Bella Vita residents have a lot of fun! Below is the story of a recent adventure by resident Richard Lampert.

Up until late August, neither my daughter nor I had ever been on a cruise. But after our first adventure on the sea, we are considering another one next year.

We left Seattle and sailed for a day and a half to Juneau, Alaska. Kind of a different city that is made up of souvenir shops and jewelry stores and that was about all of it. But since it was the end of the tourist season we got some great bargains.

Next stop wasn’t really a stop but a trip through Glacier Bay National Park – very majestic and interesting with some great scenery.

Sitka was more enjoyable with varied attractions and activities as was our final port of call Ketchikan. These were a lot more enjoyable for us since there were more types of shops and food options than in Juneau.

We had purchased three excursions which were somewhat similar – whale watching, wildlife viewing and sailing through the bays of Juneau, Sitka and Ketchikan. In total, we probably saw 40 whales, 30 eagles, several sea otters, and even a group of porpoises that were traveling alongside.

All of that plus great food, good drinks, and fun onboard activities made the trip well worth the expense and encourages us to consider doing it again. Next time it might be the East coast.
